eduroam stands for Education Roaming. It is a computer infrastructure for the transparent use of networks of universities and other educational institutions. The idea originated in TERENA (Trans-European Research and Education Networking Association).
The goal is to interconnect all subscriber networks so that a user of one network can connect to any of them under his / her account (maintained in the home network). The result is just as easy to use as in mobile roaming.

Technically, the registration of participants is solved using RADIUS servers. In the Czech Republic, the project is supported by the CESNET association, which has been involved in the project from the very beginning as a coordinator and promoter of computer roaming activities not only in our country but also in other European countries (Portugal, Great Britain, Belgium, France, Germany, Croatia, Hungary). and Poland). The project logo was created by the well-known Czech author of books Pavel Satrapa. In addition to Europe, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, Taiwan and the USA are also involved in the network.
